Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-
‘Van Gogh is now one of the most popular artists of all time. His canvases with densely laden, visible brushstrokes rendered in a bright, opulent palette emphasize Van Gogh’s personal expression brought to life in paint. Each painting provides a direct sense of how the artist viewed each scene, interpreted through his eyes, mind, and heart. This radically idiosyncratic, emotionally evocative style has continued to affect artists and movements throughout the 20th century and up to the present day, guaranteeing Van Gogh’s importance far into the future.’ – The Art Story
Forgive me for trailing off here, although this is not about the artist, it is about his work. It’s about another artist…
I was invited to take a look at a fashion capsule collection by this lady called Kokab Farrukh. Her pieces were all made with the popular Van Gogh paintings- The Starry Night, Irises, The Church At Auvers, The Wheatfield With Crows, The Red Vineyard, and so many others!
The big plus here is that if you like colors, Van Gogh loved using them too. This of course means that most of the pieces which comprised mostly tops, were quite colorful.
Van Gogh’s flowing brush strokes blended particularly well with the fine smooth silk fabric. Good enough for the obvious sighting of the famous paintings. It was hard to miss the ‘Irises’ and of course one of my best of his collection, the ‘Starry Night’.
What do you think?
